  • Bananarama
    This girl group from the UK were founded in 1979 but found success with the single 'Really Saying Something' in 1982. They had several hits throughout the 80's since when their appearances and releases have become sporadic. Bananarama's most recent album 'Greatest Hits and More More More' came out in May 2007.

  • Bangles
    The girl group from Los Angeles formed in 1981 and were originally called The Supersonic Bangs. However it was as The Bangles that they found success. They had hits throughout the 1980's including 'Manic Monday' and 'Eternal Flame'. They broke up in 1988 but reformed in 2000, and their first official live DVD 'Return To Bangleonia' was released in August 2007.

  • The Cover Girls
    The first single from this US girl group 'Show Me' was released in 1987 and sold over 500,000 copies. The Cover girls went on to release five albums including 1998's 'Greatest Hits'. The group was off the scene for a while but reformed in 2001.

  • Expose
    This dance band formed in 1984. They had a number of hit records and a few personnel changes before disbanding in 1996. Exposé got together again in 2006 and continue to tour.

    This pop duo from Canada was established in the late 1980's. They released four singles and two albums between 1991 and 1992. Despite successful tours in Canada, the US and the UK Love and Sas split up in 1993.

  • Mel and Kim
    Sisters Mel and Kim Appleby shot to fame in the late 1980's. Their most memorable single was 1987's 'Respectable' that went to #1 in the UK, and also in the US Dance Charts. While suffering from cancer of the spine, Mel died of pneumonia in 1988, tragically bringing the short but successful career of Mel and Kim to an end.

  • Onyanko Club
    This Japanese group had over fifty members working in rotation and three offshoot groups evolved from the main band. Onyanko Club or Kitten Club in English were popular in Japan from their formation in 1985 to their break-up in 1987.

    This English duo started their career as backing singers with the group Wham. They released two albums and six singles in their time as Pepsi and Shirlie, which ran from 1987 to 1991.

  • Salt-n-Pepa
    This US girl group released their debut Album 'Hot Cool and Vicious' in 1986. After more than a decade making records Salt-n-Pepa embarked on their final live tour in 1999. They are still in the public eye however, as the reality TV show, The Salt-n-Pepa Show began to air on VH1 in October 2007.

  • Seduction
    This American trio's first album 'Nothing Matters Without Love' came out in 1989. Seduction released one more album and several singles before their break-up in 1991.

  • Shakespears Sisters
    This duo formed in 1988. Siobhan Fahey had been a singer/songwriter with Bananarama, and formed the group with Marcella Detroit a French musician. Shakespeares Sister split in 1993, although Fahey continued to use the name as a solo artist.

  • Sweet Sensation
    This Bronx based trio reduced three albums and nine top selling singles of 'freestyle' dance music in their short career. Sweet Sensation were active from 1988 to 1992.

    A duo of twin sisters from Canada, Tú were making records between 1987 and 1989. They also appeared as backing singers in Platinum Blonde's video, 'Fire'.
